About The Position

Airgas is Hiring for a Cylinder Maintenance 2nd Shift in LaPorte, TX! Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 10:00 am to 6:30 pm The Production Associate (Cylinder Maintenance) will be responsible for loading and unloading high-pressure and liquid cylinders while assisting the Maintenance Team by visually inspecting and performing general maintenance on cylinder inventory. Inspects cylinders before filling, following standard procedures required by the government, Airgas, and distributor standards. Understands the hazards of various gasses, sizes, and contents of cylinders by reading and interpreting cylinder labels and the color-coding of tanks. Safely operates a forklift, pallet jack, and other warehouse/material-handling equipment. Examines returned cylinders for surface defects, dents, cracks, burns and performs minor maintenance of equipment and inspection of cylinders before filling. Segregates out test cylinders and any defective cylinders. Removes old labels, cleans cylinders.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform heavy work – routinely lifts 25 – 75 lbs., and occasionally lifts 76 to greater than 100 lbs.
  • Ability to perform work during prolonged standing up to 8 hours; frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, and feeling also required.
  • Candidates must have valid employment authorization in the U.S. and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. This position is not open for non-immigrant visa sponsorship.
  • Ability to read and comprehend all written communication and documents.
  • Must have the ability to become forklift certified.
