About The Position

Hendrick Motorsports is currently seeking an experienced Cylinder Head Technician. Summary: Under the general direction of the Cylinder Head Shop Manager, the Cylinder Head Technician is responsible for teardown and cleanup of cylinder heads and components post-race.

Requirements

  • Must have 5+ years of experience with building race engines.
  • Requires working knowledge of basic mechanical skills and competencies.
  • Must possess a sound understanding of internal combustion engines.
  • Must possess strong communication skills and an excellent sense of customer satisfaction, communicating with other departments, and perform work as timely and precisely as possible.

  • Detail-Oriented – ability to pay attention to the minute details of a task.

  • Repairing – repairing items using needed tools and equipment
  • Requires vision (near, distance, depth) and ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – safety glasses.
  • Constantly manually manipulates.
  • Frequently stands, walks, sits, reaches outward, lifts/carries up to 50 pounds, and pushes/pull up to 40 pounds.
  • Occasionally reaches above shoulder, climbs, crawls, squats or kneels, bends, lifts/carries over 100 pounds, and pushes/pulls up to 100 pounds.
  • The position requires regular and predictable attendance.
  • Scheduled shifts may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Cylinder Head and Intake Manifold Development
  • Work with engineering on new port designs
  • Flow test port designs
  • Blend valve seats
  • Prep new intake manifolds
  • Work closely with CNC Dept. on cylinder head machining
  • TIG weld
  • Any other duties assigned by manager
