Serving Caledonia, Essex, and Orleans counties, NKHS supports nearly 4,000 community members annually through case management, outpatient therapy, crisis services, psychiatry, medication management, residential care, school-based services, and more. CYFS Outpatient Clinician The CYFS Senior Outpatient Clinician provides comprehensive diagnostic assessments, therapeutic interventions, and clinical consultation for children, youth, and families in an outpatient setting. This role offers a unique opportunity to work across both clinic and school-based environments, supporting clients in the settings where they are most comfortable and engaged. As a senior member of the clinical team, this position plays a key role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care while also helping to shape and strengthen program development within CYFS. The clinician will provide individual, group, and family therapy, support crisis intervention when needed, and collaborate closely with schools, families, and community partners to ensure coordinated, client-centered care. In addition to direct service, this role includes opportunities for leadership and mentorship, including providing clinical guidance to interns and early-career clinicians, supporting staff development, and contributing to the growth of internship and training programs. The ideal candidate brings strong clinical expertise, sound judgment, and a passion for working with children and families in a community mental health setting.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or related field required
  • Licensure as LICSW, LCMHC, or LMFT required
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience required
  • At least 3 years of post-licensure experience required
  • Experience providing evidence-based, client-centered therapy required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to assess, diagnose, and develop effective treatment plans
  • Proficiency in clinical documentation and electronic health records
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong understanding of therapeutic techniques and best practices
  • Ability to mentor, supervise, and support developing clinicians
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards

Nice To Haves

  • Dual licensure (or willingness to obtain) strongly preferred
  • Experience in community mental health or outpatient settings preferred
  • Prior experience providing clinical supervision preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
  • Provide short-term psychotherapy using evidence-based treatment modalities
  • Facilitate individual, group, and family therapy sessions
  • Lead treatment, support, and psychoeducational groups
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and model best practices
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and improve client outcomes
  • Monitor client progress, adjust treatment plans, and evaluate outcomes
  • Provide crisis intervention and support in emergency situations
  • Refer clients to appropriate services and community resources
  • Participate in clinical meetings and case presentations
  • Support program development and community-based initiatives
  • Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and training to interns and clinicians
  • Coordinate internship opportunities with post-secondary institutions
  • Participate in staff development and training activities
