About The Position

This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, maintainability, and safety of all nuclear and conventional plant systems during the project design phase. This position requires a deep understanding of nuclear engineering principles, maintenance strategies, and safety protocols. They will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to integrate maintenance considerations into the design of nuclear facilities, ensuring that future maintenance operations are efficient and compliant with regulatory standards. This role may also serve as an Online/Outage Cycle Planner and responsible for responsible for determining which maintenance activities are performed online versus during outages and for developing the overall outage cycle plans.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, or equivalent GED required.
  • Typically, fifteen years of experience in an industrial maintenance, operations, or engineering role required.
  • Demonstrated experience or education in industrial maintenance practices, planning, reliability engineering, maintenance management systems, reliability analysis tools, enterprise asset management tools, scheduling software and safety analysis.
  • Familiarity with nuclear regulatory requirements and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design engineers to incorporate maintenance requirements into the design of nuclear systems and components, ensuring ease of access and serviceability.
  • Develop comprehensive maintenance plans and schedules that align with design specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct preliminary safety analyses to identify potential maintenance-related hazards and recommend design modifications to mitigate risks.
  • Ensure all maintenance aspects of the design comply with relevant nuclear regulations and standards, including NRC and international guidelines.
  • Prepare detailed maintenance documentation, including procedures, manuals, and technical reports, to support the design and future operational phases.
  • Apply reliability engineering principles to predict maintenance needs and improve the overall reliability of nuclear systems.
  • Work closely with project managers, design engineers, safety engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure maintenance considerations are fully integrated into the project lifecycle.
  • Stay updated on the latest developments in nuclear maintenance engineering and incorporate best practices into the design process.
  • Develop, coordinate, and optimize maintenance plans for both online and outage conditions in support of startup and operational readiness.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, Radiation Protection, and other departments to ensure proper integration of maintenance activities.
  • Ensure lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures are incorporated for all applicable equipment and maintenance tasks.
  • Analyze maintenance activities to determine execution windows (online vs outage), resource availability, and plant impact.
  • Ensure compliance with NRC regulations, ASME/ANSI codes, as well as all applicable state and local codes.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
