JOB SUMMARY: The cycle counter is responsible for the physical counting of materials and finished goods as well as the validation of product quantities on hand by utilizing the inventory control system. This includes but is not limited to computers, manual paperwork, reports, the R/F scanning system, and input from other employees. The position is responsible for analyzing and reconciliation of inventory variances. In addition, the position includes the manual calculations and computer entry of various reports from various departments (slitter, blanker, press, manufacturing, receiving, etc.). There are two cycle counter positions on first shift that are divided into two categories, raw materials and finished goods. The raw materials cycle counter performs required duties by physically counting product in the raw materials warehouse. The finished goods cycle counter performs required duties by physically counting product in the finished goods warehouse. Both positions require ability to use the R/F system, use of adding machines, filing, research ability, analytical ability, problem solving skills, good communication skills, and warehouse operation knowledge. The employee is cross-trained on both the raw material inventory and the finished goods inventory and may be required to work with either. DESCRIPTION OF TASKS: 1. The cycle counter will first run a negatives report which indicates possible errors in the accuracy of the inventory. In viewing this report, the cycle counter will investigate reasons for negatives and actual counts of those inventory items. The employee will also investigate any possible alternate reasons for the inaccuracy. 2. The cycle counter will then begin physically counting inventory by locations and matching those locations with the location in the R/F system. The inventory is only counted at this point and the current inventory count will override the previous inventory quantity in the system. The cycle counter will count on an average between 150 and 200 items per day. 3. Once the counting is finished, the results of the comparison between the physical count and the inventory system are obtained in the accounting department. This report indicates the bay accuracy of the inventory for the day. If there is an excessive amount of missing product in the bay, the cycle counter will investigate all possible locations of the missing product or overages. Any adjustments will be made at this point and a report will be made and sent to pertinent departments. 4. Records of daily accuracy percentages will be maintained for daily, monthly, or yearly review. 5. The cycle counter will physically track all of the fixed assets within the facility on alternating days of the week. Fixed assets will consist of computer hardware, mechanical equipment, storeroom parts, etc. 6. Production reports of different departments are to be entered into the system to maintain records of production quantities and inventory transactions. 7.
