About The Position

This senior-level role focuses on ensuring the security and resilience of enterprise IT systems for high-stakes federal and defense environments. You will lead vulnerability management, patching, and system hardening initiatives, applying deep expertise in Windows and Linux server administration, network security, and compliance frameworks. The role requires hands-on engagement with technical teams to assess risks, remediate vulnerabilities, and maintain Zero Trust architectures. You will operate in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement security best practices and continuous improvement. Strong analytical skills, technical judgment, and the ability to communicate complex security concepts to both technical and leadership audiences are essential. This position allows you to make a tangible impact on organizational cybersecurity posture while developing advanced system engineering expertise.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of related experience in cybersecurity, system administration, or vulnerability management (15+ years preferred).
  • Active SECRET clearance required.
  • Hands-on experience with vulnerability scanning tools such as Tenable Nessus, Qualys, or Rapid7.
  • Strong knowledge of patch management processes and enterprise OS administration (Windows and Linux).
  • Understanding of CVSS scoring, CVE tracking, and vulnerability prioritization.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, firewalls, and enterprise security best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular vulnerability scans across enterprise servers, applications, and infrastructure using industry-standard tools.
  • Analyze scan results, assess risk severity, and prioritize remediation activities in coordination with system owners and engineering teams.
  • Develop, maintain, and operate a vulnerability management program, including tracking, reporting, and remediation metrics.
  • Apply and validate security patches, OS updates, and software upgrades on enterprise Windows and Linux servers.
  • Coordinate with infrastructure, application, and DevOps teams to ensure timely remediation with minimal operational impact.
  • Support compliance with security frameworks and standards such as NIST, CIS Benchmarks, and DISA STIG.
  • Document vulnerability management processes, create runbooks, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in security audits, assessments, and reporting activities.
