About The Position

ARES is hiring a Senior Cybersecurity Program Manager to support a critical Department of Defense cybersecurity program overseeing assessment and authorization support for tactical systems. This leadership position involves the management and oversight of key cybersecurity compliance functions including risk management, cybersecurity program assessments, independent security controls validation, vulnerability assessment methodology verification, software assurance, and training. This position is located in the Northern Virginia area. This position is contingent upon contract award and is estimated to start in February 2026.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience managing programs in a DoD environment, preferably the Department of the Navy or Missile Defense Agency.
  • Proficient in technical services and analysis with knowledge of cybersecurity standards, principles, practices, and processes.
  • Experience supporting key cybersecurity activities including vulnerability assessments, control development, security plan documentation, penetration testing, and the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Experience conducting independent analyses and validation of processes and procedures.
  • Experience managing financials, including cost estimation, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Understanding of federal government contracting, logistics, travel, and risk management.
  • Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee key cybersecurity compliance functions including risk management and cybersecurity program assessments.
  • Conduct independent security controls validation and vulnerability assessment methodology verification.
  • Ensure software assurance and provide training related to cybersecurity.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and management of a complex DoD contract with over 75 personnel.
  • Support key cybersecurity activities including vulnerability assessments, control development, security plan documentation, and penetration testing.
  • Conduct independent analyses and validation of processes and procedures.
  • Manage financials, including cost estimation, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Think strategically to address issues and implement plans for major operational defense programs.
