About The Position

Performs professional work providing limited direct instruction and computer assisted services in a specialized subject or assigned group of subjects, motivating students to develop skill in assigned subject matters; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the CTE Principal.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of subject(s); thorough knowledge of education principles, practices and procedures; thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching; thorough knowledge of school division rules,regulations and procedures; ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior; ability to deliver articulate oral presentations and written reports; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff, students and parents; ability to operate a personal computer.
  • Must possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in education or a related field.
  • Must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Collegiate Professional License, Postgraduate Professional License or Provisional License with appropriate endorsement to teach specific subject areas.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons in cybersecurity operations, including network security, ethical hacking, incident response, and risk management.
  • Align instruction with local, state and national standards, industry certifications, and career readiness expectations.
  • Use diverse instructional strategies to accommodate various learning styles and abilities.
  • Provide practical, hands-on training through labs, simulations, and real-world scenarios.
  • Utilize cybersecurity tools, platforms, and software to teach best practices in securing networks, systems, and data.
  • Design and administer assessments to measure student understanding and skill proficiency.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to help students improve technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Network+, TestOut).
  • Stay current with emerging cybersecurity trends, technologies, and threats.
  • Collaborate with industry professionals to ensure the curriculum reflects current practices and standards.
  • Participate in professional development activities and continuous learning to enhance instructional quality.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Ensure the proper setup, use, and maintenance of cybersecurity lab equipment and software.
  • Enforce ethical guidelines and responsible use of technology.
  • Mentor and advise students on academic and career pathways in cybersecurity.
  • Facilitate student participation in cybersecurity competitions, internships, and other student work-based learning experiences.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and achievements.
  • Prepare reports as required by school administration and accrediting bodies.
  • Work with colleagues, administrators, and industry partners to enhance program quality and relevance.
  • Participate in school meetings, committees, and parent conferences as needed.
