Tacoma Power is currently looking for a Cybersecurity Operations Manager (Senior Manager, Technology Classification) to join their Utilities Technology Services (UTS) division. This classification is responsible for managing the day to day operations of a technology function that includes at least two teams/units within a division, and direct supervision of at least two subordinate technology managers/supervisors. The TPU Cybersecurity Operations Manager (TPU COM) works with the UTS Chief Operating Officer (COO) and the Operational Systems and Security (OSS) Division Manager to disseminate program information, gain consensus of security risk tolerance, meet reasonable program compliance targets, lead Cybersecurity incident response, and coordinate the cross-utility resources needed to ensure a successful program.

  • Manage the Cybersecurity Program by establishing cooperative working relationships and reporting criteria to meet TPU's cybersecurity needs.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to TPU leadership on matters of information security, privacy, breach notification, regulatory compliance, risks, and any other matter affecting the security of TPU's technology assets.
  • Lead the development of effective policies, programs, and processes to manage risk in a complex operational technology environment.
  • Participate in the development and management of budget for the operations and maintenance of an effective cybersecurity program.
  • Participate in industry peer groups to align TPU on Cybersecurity best practices and facilitate information sharing.
  • Plan and forecast resource needs for operational and program execution.
  • Ensure adequate training and set professional growth targets for Cybersecurity personnel.
  • Provide quarterly Cybersecurity program updates to the Executive Leadership Team and annual updates to the Public Utility Board.
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or directly related field.
  • 6 years of progressively responsible Cybersecurity technology and project management experience, including 1 year as a technology supervisor, manager or subject-matter expert.
  • Experience and understanding with North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection standards (NERC-CIP).
  • Some assignments may require a Washington State Driver's License.
  • Familiarity with ITIL and ITSM frameworks.
  • Familiarity with NIST and CIS frameworks.
  • Remain current concerning applicable regulations, laws, and policies.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional.
  • Certified Information Security Manager.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of Operational Technologies and Systems.
  • Previous experience in Utilities Industry.
