Cybersecurity Department The OT Cybersecurity Intern supports the global Cybersecurity team in protecting Vantage Data Centers’ Operational Technology (OT) environments, including industrial control systems (ICS), automation platforms, and supporting infrastructure. This role provides hands‑on exposure to cybersecurity in a mission‑critical data‑center environment and builds foundational knowledge across OT, IT, and cybersecurity domains. The intern will assist with monitoring, documentation, risk analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen security while enabling safe and reliable operations Position Overview This role will be based in Denver, CO, Ashburn, VA or Phoenix, AZ The OT Cybersecurity Intern plays a key role in supporting Vantage Data Centers’ global Cybersecurity team by helping protect Operational Technology (OT) environments across mission‑critical data centers. This internship offers hands‑on exposure to industrial control systems (ICS), automation platforms, and supporting infrastructure, providing foundational experience across OT, IT, and cybersecurity domains. In this role, the intern will assist with monitoring security alerts, supporting vulnerability management, contributing to documentation, and participating in incident review activities. The position also offers the opportunity to collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including Engineering, IT, Facilities, and Operations—while contributing to ongoing security improvements and risk‑management initiatives

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in, or recent graduate of, a degree program in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
  • Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity, networking, automation, or industrial systems
  • Fundamental understanding of cybersecurity concepts and networking principles
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical concepts clearly

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of OT / ICS environments and the differences between OT, IT, and cybersecurity control models
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST CSF, NIST SP 800‑53, NIST SP 800‑82, or ISO 27001
  • Experience creating SOPs, job aids, or technical documentation
  • Travel required is expected to be up to 5% but may increase overtime as business evolves.

Responsibilities

  • Support analysis and initial triage of cybersecurity alerts and incidents affecting OT and ICS environments, assisting with impact and severity determination
  • Assist with OT vulnerability management activities, including asset tracking, documentation, and remediation coordination
  • Support secure deployment of OT‑related cybersecurity hardware, software, and tools at new and existing sites
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of OT cybersecurity documentation, including procedures, standards, job aids, and diagrams
  • Assist with monitoring compliance to cybersecurity policies, standards, and industry frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO)
  • Participate in post‑incident reviews and lessons‑learned activities to support continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with OT, IT, Engineering, Facilities, and Operations teams to support secure and reliable operations
  • Conduct research on cybersecurity solutions and emerging OT security risks and document findings
  • Handle additional duties as assigned by management.
