(CME) is seeking an early career Cybersecurity IT Specialist to help protect our systems, support NIST and CMMC compliance efforts, and assist with day-to-day IT operations. This role is designed for someone fresh out of college or with limited professional experience who is eager to learn, grow, and build a career in cybersecurity and IT.   • Assist with CME's compliance efforts for NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC 2.0.
  • Help maintain cybersecurity documentation such as the System Security Plan (SSP), POAMs, and incident response procedures.
  • Monitor basic logs and alerts under guidance from senior team members.
  • Assist with system hardening tasks, access control reviews, and security configuration updates.
  • Support cybersecurity awareness activities including phishing simulations and user training.
  • Troubleshoot common issues related to hardware, software, networks, email, and user access.
  • Support Windows, Linux, Active Directory, VPN, and basic virtualization environments.
  • Assist with installing, configuring, patching, and maintaining IT systems and equipment.
  • Provide end user support and help maintain IT documentation and procedures.
  • Foundational understanding of cybersecurity principles and basic familiarity with NIST SP 800-171 or CMMC concepts.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows and Linux systems, Active Directory, networking fundamentals, and general IT troubleshooting.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset, willingness to learn, and attention to detail.
  • Clear communication skills and a customer focused attitude.
  • Curiosity, initiative, and the drive to grow into increasingly complex cybersecurity responsibilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • Internship, capstone project, lab experience, part time IT work, or relevant coursework is highly valued.
  • Equivalent military or industry experience may be considered if it demonstrates comparable technical depth.
  • Candidates must meet U.S. Person requirements which include U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee status.
  • All new hires must verify identity and work eligibility through E-Verify.
  • Experience with NIST SP 800-171 or CMMC 2.0 is a plus but not required; training will be provided.
