About The Position

Job Description for: Cybersecurity Engineer Position: Cybersecurity Engineer Department: Cybersecurity Supervised By: Manager, Cybersecurity Department Summary: The Cybersecurity Engineer supports the secure and reliable operation of enterprise information technology by providing day-to-day operational support for network security platforms and related cybersecurity controls. This role works closely with IT teams and customers to monitor, maintain, and improve network security capabilities while ensuring changes are implemented in a controlled and coordinated manner. The Cybersecurity Engineer participates in change management processes, supports incident response activities, and contributes to the continuous improvement of security controls that protect clinical, administrative, and business operations at Scottish Rite for Children. Position Summary: Provides day-to-day operational support for network security platforms and related cybersecurity controls to ensure availability, reliability, and security of enterprise systems. Monitors, troubleshoots, and resolves issues related to network security controls, including segmentation, access enforcement, and workload communications. Serves as an operational point of contact for assigned cybersecurity tools, supporting routine maintenance, configuration updates, and issue resolution. Participates in the IT change control process by documenting proposed changes, assessing potential operational and security impacts, and supporting scheduled implementations. Coordinates with infrastructure, application, and operations teams to plan, implement, and validate changes to network security controls in a controlled and predictable manner. Works with internal IT teams, system owners, and customers to understand application dependencies, communication patterns, and operational requirements prior to implementing security changes. Communicates anticipated impacts of security control changes to stakeholders and validates outcomes following implementation to ensure minimal disruption to clinical and business operations. Supports the continuous improvement of network security controls by assisting with enhancements that improve visibility, segmentation effectiveness, and operational stability. Assists with onboarding applications, systems, and environments into network security platforms using defined standards, procedures, and best practices. Maintains accurate documentation for configurations, procedures, troubleshooting steps, and change activities to support operational consistency and knowledge sharing. Monitors alerts, logs, and system outputs from network security platforms to identify anomalies, potential issues, or policy gaps. Provides technical support during cybersecurity incidents by assisting with analysis, validation, and containment activities related to network security controls. Ensures daily operational activities align with established cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures. Supports audit, risk assessment, and compliance activities by providing documentation, evidence, and operational context related to network security controls. Follows all TSRHC Policy, Procedures, Standards, and Guidelines. This staff member may be required to perform other reasonably related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor or other management. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field required; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience working in an enterprise IT or cybersecurity environment, preferably within healthcare or another regulated industry.
  • Working knowledge of Cisco-based network environments, including fundamental routing, switching, and network traffic flows.
  • Understanding of network segmentation concepts, including traditional approaches such as VLANs, subnets, and access controls, and the ability to apply those concepts to modern, host-based and policy-driven network security controls.
  • Experience analyzing application communication patterns and documenting workloads and dependencies to support network security and segmentation controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot network and security issues, including identifying root cause when application connectivity or functionality is impacted by security control changes.
  • Experience supporting security technologies in a production environment, including monitoring, issue resolution, and coordinated change implementation.
  • Familiarity with IT service management practices, including change control processes, within operationally sensitive or regulated environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with IT teams, system owners, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear and accurate documentation for configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while maintaining attention to detail and operational stability.
