About The Position

Peraton is seeking qualified individuals to join our team to provide engineering support for Cyber Situational Awareness (SA), Cyber Command and Control (C2), Mission Assurance, and Homeland Defense. This includes conducting Agile software engineering in a Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps) environment, performing Cloud architectural design, operation, and administration functions, and cyber security and Risk Management Framework (RMF) support. Also included are rapid design, development, test, deployment, maintenance and operation of specific software and hardware capabilities to meet current Cyber Defensive needs. This position is located at Naval Station San Diego, CA (no remote or hybrid options). The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) Dam Neck Activity's (DNA) work is focused on providing engineering, acquisition, logistical, and Cybersecurity (CS) support to the Navy, Marine Corps, Special Warfare Coalition, and Joint Forces for programs including but not limited to Common Total Ship Computing Environment (TSCE), Atlanta Weapon System (AtWS), NAVSEA Red Team, National Cyber Range Complex (NCRC), surface and sub training systems, and Risk Management Framework (RMF) Support for Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD). Peraton, a recognized leader in Cyber, Digital Transformation, Cloud, Operations, and Engineering, is seeking a skilled Cybersecurity Engineer, Littoral Combat Ship Software Support to support a world-wide national intelligence program. This role plays a crucial part in delivering mission-critical technology solutions to the U.S. Intelligence Community, supporting operations that safeguard our nation's security. With the growing number of breaches of tactical and non-tactical computer systems, there is an increasing need to focus on the engineering aspects of CS. CS continues to be approached as compliance-based and this has not addressed significant shortcomings and vulnerabilities in the security of naval warfare systems and other service warfare systems. CS requirements must be included during the design, development, and sustainment phases of systems acquisition to ensure they are secure and Cyber-resilient throughout their Life-Cycle. Additionally, previously designed, and fielded systems must be evaluated on an engineering basis to determine potential changes to their design or supportability approaches.

Requirements

  • Min 10 years with BS/BA, Minimum of 8 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 5 years with PhD.
  • Minimum IAT Level II required prior to start date.
  • Ability to obtain within 30 days of start date IAT Level III certification as a condition of continued employment.
  • A combined total of ten (10) years of full-time professional/education experience in computer security, military system specifications, and DoD cybersecurity policies.
  • Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Total Ship Computing Environment (TSCE) OR Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) experience.
  • Risk Management Framework (RMF) experience and implementation of Cybersecurity and IA boundary defense techniques.
  • Experience with Firewalls, Intrusion Detection System (IDS), Intrusion Prevention System (IPS), Switch/Routers, Cross Domain Solutions (CDS), EMASS, and Endpoint Security Solution (ESS).
  • Performing STIG implementation and vulnerability assessments with the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution tool.
  • Remediating vulnerability findings to include implementing vendor patches on both Linux and Windows Operating systems.
  • Must currently possess a DoD Secret level clearance or above.
  • Current U.S. Passport or ability to obtain prior to start.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
  • MS and 8 years of experience as a professional Engineer.
  • 10 years + experience analyzing log data, performing traffic analysis, executing audits, performing digital footprint and risk intelligence analysis.
  • DoD Top Secret security clearance is highly preferred.
  • One or more of the following cyber certifications: OSCP, GIAC, GSOC, CompTIA CySA+, CISSP from ISC2, Certified Navy Validator.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Onsite Representative (OSR) support to NSWCDD DNA by providing administrative and technical support.
  • Perform ship checks and attend local meetings.
  • Provide critical fleet schedule information and coordination, serving as liaison to the ship.
  • Support all efforts required to deliver new TSCE baselines to the fleet.
  • Coordinate efforts to meet fleet requirements and assist with agreements such as MOA and MOU.
  • Develop ship inspection procedures (including test procedures) and ship check reports.
  • Provide ship check reports in accordance with NSWCDD DNA provided Ship check guidance materials.
  • Perform AIT installations, removals, overhauls, upgrades, and/or technical assistance for assemblies, units, equipment, systems, ECPs, and alterations.
  • Coordinate with the Activity's Alteration Installation Team (AIT) to ensure that all material and applicable instructions, TDP(s), DFS(s), etc. are approved and installed.
  • Adhere to the requirements of shipboard protocol as defined within Section C.5.10.
  • Support underway periods as required to achieve tasking objectives.
  • Maintain the smooth operation of multi-user systems, coordinating with network engineers and other IT staff to ensure optimal system performance.
