Workday is seeking an experienced senior infrastructure security engineer to lead the design and innovation of cloud platform and AI services security architectures, integrating advanced technologies to protect against evolving threats while enabling business agility and growth. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and drive the secure architecture of cloud platforms, applications and AI services models including generative and agentic AI, addressing potential threats and mitigations, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards where applicable. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in enterprise-focused cloud, infrastructure security, and AI technologies. The infrastructure security engineer will report to the Director of Security Engineering, and maintain strong working relationships across security, Business Technology and application development leadership.

  • Build, deploy, and manage security tools and services including open source tool development.
  • Design and implement scalable processes across Workday's cloud, services and infrastructure environments.
  • Provide expert guidance during solution design and implementation.
  • Lead threat modeling, architecture reviews, and risk assessments as part of technical intake and governance processes.
  • Serve as the security subject matter expert within project and development teams.
  • Partner with Security, Infrastructure, Application Development, and Business Technology teams to ensure secure integration and alignment of technical requirements.
  • Stay ahead of evolving threats and technology trends.
  • Contribute to the long-term security architecture roadmap by identifying opportunities to improve the organization's security posture.
  • Develop and maintain reference architectures, secure configuration standards, and solution patterns.
  • Ensure consistency with frameworks such as NIST, FedRAMP, and GDPR.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to drive security requirements, threat modeling practices and embedded security principles, standards and architecture blueprints into CI/CD pipelines.
  • 4-plus years enterprise security program experience with a combination of engineering and automation or development roles within cybersecurity, infrastructure, security tooling, cloud security or AI.
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and automation and/or open source tools and languages (Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, Python).
  • Experience working in enterprise security program building cloud, infrastructure or security services such as vulnerability management, cloud security configurations.
  • Experience using CI/CD pipelines for change management and automated security testing.
  • Solid understanding of cloud security concepts and professional hands-on experience documenting and implementing security controls.
  • Proficient in at least one scripting language with the ability to apply automation to ensure desired and consistent security configurations are maintained.
  • Strong understanding of platform, network, application, and cloud security fundamentals, tools, and concepts.
  • Ability to drive multiple projects and priorities while managing operational responsibilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, building positive relationships with partner organizations.
