We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cyber Threat Analyst to join our security team. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in protecting our organization by proactively identifying, analyzing, and assessing potential security threats and vulnerabilities. This role requires a background in cyber security, threat hunting and intelligence platforms, and a preference for experience within a military or Department of Defense (DoD) operational environment. Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience or College Degree in a related Cyber field showing knowledge as a dedicated threat analysis, performing threat intelligence, or closely related cybersecurity role.
  • Core Knowledge: Strong understanding of cyber threats, threat intelligence lifecycle, and security best practices. Strong understanding of Network and DNS common ports and protocols and use of network tools.
  • Tool Experience: Hands-on experience with security platforms and tools, including Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE) and Microsoft Sentinel. Understanding of Microsoft AUDS systems
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a capacity for critical and "outside-the-box" thinking.
  • Communication: Excellent communication (written and verbal) and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within diverse and cross-functional teams.
  • Environment: Proven ability to work in a fast-paced security operations environment, effectively managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Clearance: Must be able to obtain/maintain a Top-secret SCI clearance.
  • Candidates must possess a DoD 8140 certification for DCWF 531 – Intermediate Preferred Qualifications (A Strong Plus)

Nice To Haves

  • Military/DoD Experience: Familiarity with U.S. Army policies, procedures, and organizational processes.
  • Cyber Security Controls: Experience implementing and adhering to cyber security controls, policies, and procedures in a military setting.
  • Network Analysis: Experience with analyzing network activities, responding to security anomalies, and accurate event reporting. Familiarity with network protocols and architectures.
  • DNS Knowledge: Experience with analyzing DNS logs and understanding forward and reverse proxies.
  • Endpoint Security: Experience reviewing and analyzing endpoint security events/logs.
  • Tool Familiarity: Experience in some or all of the following specialized tools: o Elastic Kibana o Service Now/AESMP (Security Operations) o TippingPoint o Gabriel Nimbus o Interrogator Reporting o Tychon o ThreatQ o Wireshark
  • Operational Environment: Familiarization working in a JMN/JRSS environment. Knowledge of AGUN a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Threat Identification and Analysis: Identify, analyze, and assess potential threats to the DOWIN, including cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and risks. Provide actionable recommendations for mitigation and remediation to relevant stakeholders. Analyze cyber threat reports and recommend internal defense measures for the CONUS theater. Review Operations Impact Assessments (OIA) for redirecting domains and lifting domains when needed. Perform analysis on WURs (Web Unblock Requests) and providing recommendations on allowing or denying access to site requests depending on the potential threat to the DOWIN. Review all CDOC TIPs (Cyber Defense Operation Center Tippers) for blocking of domains passed in the tipper by ARCYBER.
  • Intelligence Gathering: Collect, analyze, and disseminate information from diverse sources, including open-source intelligence (OSINT), social media, and dark web sources, to maintain current awareness of emerging threats, trends, and adversary Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with internal teams, including Incident Response, Content and Development, and sensors, to integrate threat analysis into ongoing security efforts and response strategies.
  • Risk Management: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities within the organization's infrastructure. Develop and implement strategies to effectively mitigate and remediate identified risks. Follow and maintain existing TTPs.
  • Adversary Mapping: Understand and utilize threat modeling frameworks, specifically the MITRE ATT&CK framework, to map adversary behavior, understand their goals, and develop defensive countermeasures.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of the MITRE ATT&CK matrix components (tactics, techniques, and procedures).
  • Ability to map observed adversary behavior to MITRE ATT&CK tactics and techniques.
