The Cyber Software Engineer Associate will develop secure Python applications/tools by writing, reviewing, and maintaining high‑quality code, incorporating essential security controls such as authentication, encryption, and input validation. They will assist senior engineers in threat modeling to identify potential risks early in the development cycle and use static and dynamic analysis tools (e.g., Bandit, SonarQube, CodeQL, fuzzers) to detect and remediate vulnerabilities. The role also involves contributing to CI/CD pipelines to ensure security checks are embedded, and producing clear documentation, including design specifications, code comments, and user guides, to facilitate knowledge sharing. Collaboration is key; the engineer will work closely with product managers, system architects, and DevSecOps teams to deliver secure cyber‑based features on schedule, while continuously staying current with emerging cybersecurity trends, standards (such as NIST and OWASP), and best practices.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Computer or Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 0-1 years of software development experience (internships, co-ops, acceptable).
  • Possess CompTIA Security+ certification, or ability to get within 60 days of hire.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows.
  • Basic understanding of software security concepts (e.g., confidentiality, integrity, authentication, authorization, secure coding principles).
  • Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance.
  • This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) testing and scanning.
  • Full software life-cycle development.
  • Basic knowledge of cloud container scanning.
  • Prior software development experience (Python).
  • Familiarity with Agile practices.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps processes.
  • Eagerness to learn and stay current with emerging cybersecurity trends and technologies.

Responsibilities
