The Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Emerging Technologies organization is seeking a Cyber System Security Engineering Associate Manager who will support the technical lead and guide a team of platform engineers that design, deliver, and sustain Command and Control (C2) platforms for the Aeronautics Line of Business, providing 21st‑century security and functionality for our programs. The role is split roughly 25 % into team management and 75 % into hands‑on engineering. In this position you will partner closely with the tech lead to set direction, provide decisive engineering guidance, and ensure the deployment of specialized tools that satisfy operational, governance, risk‑management, and compliance requirements for classified systems and infrastructure. You will oversee Cybersecurity activities that protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of classified assets, drive advanced risk‑governance operations, and implement proactive, automation‑enabled security practices. Leveraging deep expertise in development and security controls, you will also focus on training, mentorship, and compliance enforcement so the team consistently delivers resilient cybersecurity solutions. Requirements

  • Proven ability to motivate, influence, and lead cybersecurity teams.
  • Deep cybersecurity expertise with a track record of guiding technical groups to deliver complex, artifact‑backed solutions founded on independent analysis.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder‑management skills, adept at translating technical concepts into clear, operational language.
  • Hands‑on experience with enterprise‑grade security platforms.
  • Solid foundation in operating systems, including Windows Server and Linux (RHEL).
  • Proficient in VMware virtualization technologies.
  • Thorough understanding of networking fundamentals, especially routing and switching protocols/architectures.
  • Demonstrated competence in system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and security configuration management.
  • Experience providing end‑user support and responding to security incidents.
  • Willingness and availability for after‑hours or on‑call support as required.
  • Holds a DoD 8570‑type certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CASP, CISSP, or CCNP‑Security).
  • Holds an active Secret security clearance.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • This position will require a government security clearance.
  • This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Nice To Haves

  • Active Secret clearance (investigation or CV ≤ 5 years) and eligible for Top‑Secret.
  • Able to complete any additional enhanced security reviews required by government contracts and maintain all mandated program clearances within Lockheed Martin timelines.
  • DoD 8570 Level 3 (e.g., CISA, CISM, CISSP, CCNP‑Security).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent education plus ≥ 5 years of professional experience.
  • ≥ 5 years administering Windows (Server 2016/2019, Windows 10/11) and Linux (RHEL, IBM/AIX) operating systems.
  • Proven track record leading teams in hybrid‑work environments while minimizing operational disruption and delivering user training and support.
  • Proficient with enterprise‑grade security and network‑monitoring tools (Splunk, Trellix ePO, ACAS/Tenable.sc, Tanium, Microsoft Sentinel) for detection, response, mitigation, and reporting of cyber incidents.
  • Skilled in vulnerability remediation, system hardening, log management, and configuration control using Nessus, McAfee, WSUS, Shavlik, Blade Logic, ACAS, SCAP, HBSS, etc.
  • Knowledgeable in Information Assurance hardening and compliance frameworks (STIG, DSS) and associated documentation.
  • Deep understanding of routing and switching concepts; demonstrated ability to design and implement robust network architectures.
  • Familiar with core services: Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, WSUS.
  • Experience with storage technologies (NAS, SAN, PFS) and their networking integrations.
  • Proficient in scripting/automation languages (Ansible, Python, Bash, Perl, Batch, VBScript, PowerShell) to streamline system‑administration tasks.
  • Hands‑on experience with environment‑management platforms (vSphere, Azure) and related tools (Splunk, McAfee ePO).
  • Understanding of SQL or other database technologies and ability to work with them effectively.
  • Capable of moving, racking, stacking, and installing hardware (≤ 30 lb).
  • Willing and able to travel ≥ 25 % of the time, including domestic and international locations, as program needs dictate.
