About The Position

The Cyber Security Specialist delivers specialized support in information assurance (IA), risk management, system hardening, and cybersecurity compliance for mission-critical Navy programs and systems. This role addresses the entire lifecycle of cyber defense, from requirements identification to penetration testing, A&A documentation, and support for both unclassified/classified environments.

Requirements

  • Deep knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies (e.g., DOD 8570.01-M, RMF, STIGS).
  • Experience in security engineering, penetration testing, IA documentation, and system accreditation.
  • Track record supporting compliance activities for classified and unclassified DoD IT systems.
  • Must meet DoD 8570 Information Assurance Workforce (IAWF) criteria or Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification at time of hire (i.e., Security+, CySA+, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent).
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time.
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically.
  • Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level.
  • US Citizenship is a requirement for clearance at this location.
  • The applicant selected for this position must have and be able to maintain an Active Security Clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Applicants must have a valid driver’s license for this position and will be subject to verification.
  • Chosen applicants must pass pre-employment drug screening, credit review, and a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Research, assess, and integrate new cybersecurity products into evolving program frameworks.
  • Provide IA and cybersecurity support to tactical and laboratory systems, including compliance assessment, vulnerability management, monitoring, STIG implementation, and system patching.
  • Prepare and review system Assessment and Authorization (A&A) documentation according to DoD standards (e.g., RMF).
  • Serve as a Certifying Agent Representative (CAR) supporting system accreditation and certification activities.
  • Develop penetration test plans, security specifications, and test procedures, execute security testing, and generate security test reports.
  • Monitor security posture, provide incident response, and interface with Information Assurance Officers (IAOs), ISSOs, and ISSMs.
  • Ensure that all systems under test meet required information assurance controls and reporting standards.
