About The Position

The Cyber Security Intern is responsible for protecting the organization's computer systems and networks from cyber-attacks, theft, and damage. This role involves working closely with the IT team to implement security measures, detect and respond to threats, and educate employees on safe computer usage practices. The intern will engage in technical assignments to support the enterprise's cybersecurity efforts.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent, and current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program.
  • Strong technical background with a good understanding of computer systems, networks, and security technologies.
  • Analytical skills to identify and evaluate security risks and threats.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex security issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey security risks and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working with external audit teams is desired.
  • Relevant certifications, such as CompTIA Security+ Certification and CompTIA A+ Certification, are highly desirable.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS) cyber security requirements and guidance.
  • Cyber security related risk management techniques preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain security measures, such as firewalls, antivirus software, and encryption, to protect the organization's computer systems and networks.
  • Detect and respond to security threats by monitoring the organization's systems and responding to incidents in a timely manner.
  • Educate employees on safe computer usage practices, including strong passwords and avoiding phishing scams.
  • Stay current with emerging security threats, including new types of malware and phishing scams.
  • Work closely with the IT team to ensure security measures align with technology needs and effectively protect systems and data.
  • Communicate security risks to management and recommend strategies for risk reduction.
  • Maintain security policies and procedures to protect the organization's systems and data.
