The Cyber Security Intern will assist with administrative duties supporting the BWXT LTC facilities. The role will be under the direction of the corporate Cyber Security Operations Manager.
Assists with work related to queued work orders received and assigned by the help desk.
Assists with creation of cyber security-related process and procedure documentation.
Performs basic information security related tasks under supervision of cyber engineers.
Supports the other local IT staff with a variety of projects as needed.
High School Diploma with current enrollment and completed college coursework in Information Technology.
Awareness of the PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, application software and some network troubleshooting.
Prior experience or education related to performing risk assessments, developing security plans, and developing Standard Security Configuration Guides or similar technical products.
Knowledge of the PC Industry's current and emerging technology trends and direction, as well as a keen interest in computer-based information systems and technology.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to research and understand technical documentation, and an understanding of how to apply various technical resources.
Ability to perform tasks such as application installations and upgrades, virus protection and eradication.
Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information such as security infractions and security incidents.
Ability to interact effectively with management, staff and other company personnel, and work independently, and/or as part of a team.
Ability to report to work at an assigned office location in Lynchburg, VA. This position does not include a remote work option.
Must be able to work throughout summer 2026.
Must be a U.S. Citizen with no dual citizenship.
