About The Position

The Cyber Security Associate Engineer, as a member of the Cyber Security department, will aid in the implementation and operation of solutions and processes to maintain basic technical and business areas related to cybersecurity. The Cyber Security Associate Engineer will assist in assessing Cyber Security risks and identifying potential vulnerabilities while supporting efforts to protect critical systems and data. They will provide support teams across one or more Cyber Security functions of basic complexity, working under supervision and collaboratively with other team members to help improve the organization's security posture. This role involves assisting in the design, development, and integration of enhancements within the existing architecture and ensuring security measures align with organizational standards. Problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills are important for success in this position.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or GED required
  • 1-2 years Cyber Security, Technology or other related experience required
  • Ability to assist in the implementation of basic technical solutions under the supervision of more experienced team members.
  • Developing skills in identifying and troubleshooting common technical issues, with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Basic understanding of security principles, techniques, and how they apply within specific cybersecurity domains.
  • Familiarity with foundational technologies such as Endpoint Protection, Logging and Monitoring, Network and Cloud Security, etc, with an eagerness to learn and expand technical proficiency.
  • Introductory knowledge of the systems development lifecycle (SDLC), with the ability to support small tasks on structured projects.
  • Basic ability to communicate technical concepts with clarity, focusing on understanding and improving communication with peers and team members.
  • Developing written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with team members and immediate supervisors.
  • Willingness to participate in cross-functional training and support tasks, learning to collaborate with various teams.
  • Ability to take part in collaborative efforts across small IT groups, seeking guidance on balancing security controls with operational needs.
  • Developing time management and multitasking skills, with guidance, in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong motivation to learn and grow professionally, actively seeking opportunities for self-improvement and skill development.
  • Committed to delivering accurate and high-quality work under supervision, while learning to meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Systems (or other related field) or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Security+, GSEC, SSCP, or an ITIL Certifications preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supports the design, configuration, implementation, and troubleshooting of basic cyber domain technologies and processes.
  • Assists in monitoring cyber technology platforms, responding to basic events and providing necessary insights.
  • Supports the identification and remediation of basic security threats, with guidance on priorities and metrics.
  • Identifies basic inefficiencies in processes and suggests improvements under supervision.
  • Develops clear and simple documentation for processes, technologies, and solutions to be used by team members.
  • Assists in documenting security strategies as directed.
  • Works with departments and key stakeholders to assist in maintaining basic security solutions.
  • Collaborates with Technology, Business, and Audit partners to support compliance and respond to audit requests.
  • Provides basic technical guidance and receives mentorship to enhance personal knowledge and improve processes.
  • Assists in identifying problems and participates in root cause analysis for basic issues.
  • Supports efforts to prioritize tasks and resolve basic incidents in a timely manner.
  • Provides support during scheduled engineering events and incident responses, working under supervision.
  • Communicates effectively with team members and management, ensuring clarity on assigned tasks.
  • Maintains confidentiality and follows communication protocols.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude toward problem-solving and professional growth.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
