The National Security Accelerator Program at MITRE is designed for motivated early-career candidates who are passionate about cybersecurity and national security. This six-month program offers unique work opportunities, mentoring, and professional development to prepare participants for impactful careers at MITRE. Participants will collaborate with mission specialists and engineers to address complex cybersecurity challenges, gaining insights into national security missions and enhancing their technical skills.

  • Collaborate with mission specialists and engineers to support national security sponsors in cybersecurity challenges.
  • Design, develop, and implement innovative cybersecurity solutions and technologies.
  • Conduct cyber threat analysis and mitigation.
  • Plan and execute cyber exercises and wargames.
  • Develop and implement Zero Trust security architecture.
  • Assess and develop cryptographic algorithms.
  • Engage in secure software development and DevSecOps practices.
  • Implement network security and intrusion detection systems.
  • Manage Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) processes.
  • Conduct incident response and recovery operations.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
  • Support secure cloud computing and containerization efforts.
  • Automate security processes and orchestration.
  • Collaborate with government agencies and industry partners.
  • Ensure compliance with government security standards and policies.
  • Research and develop emerging cybersecurity technologies.
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with government security standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in technical areas such as cryptography, reverse engineering, and cyber threat analysis.
  • Knowledge of relevant tools and technologies, including MITRE ATT&CK and cybersecurity intelligence products.
  • Experience engaging with senior government leaders and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI.
  • Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience in cyber engineering principles, tools, and systems, or Master's degree and 6 years of experience.
  • Proven track record of working on defense, homeland security, or aerospace projects for government agencies.
  • Demonstrated interdisciplinary background with continual learning in new technologies.
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance.
  • Advanced expertise in cyber engineering and threat analysis.
  • Proficiency in reverse engineering tools like Ghidra and IDA Pro.
  • Experience in developing Zero Trust security architectures.
  • Strong knowledge of defensive cyber operations and security automation.
  • Familiarity with cyber exercise planning and scenario development.
  • Expertise in secure software development and DevSecOps methodologies.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C, C++, and CUDA for GPU programming.
