About The Position

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Cyber Architect to support the Joint Training Synthetic Environment (JTSE) for the Joint Staff J7. In this role, you will help design and enhance secure enterprise architectures that support critical training and mission systems. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex security challenges, guiding architecture decisions, and ensuring systems remain resilient against emerging threats.

Requirements

  • 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.
  • Must have an active Secret Security Clearance
  • Working knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, and CIS Controls
  • Experience across several cybersecurity domains including:
  • Network security
  • Identity and access management
  • Application and endpoint security
  • Cloud security
  • Familiarity with secure architecture design for on prem, cloud, or hybrid environments
  • Understanding of system hardening standards such as DISA STIGs and CIS Benchmarks
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Tenable, ACAS, Qualys)
  • Knowledge of SIEM/SOAR platforms and log analysis (e.g., Splunk, Elastic, Microsoft Sentinel)
  • Understanding of secure network components (firewalls, segmentation, IDS/IPS, VPNs)
  • Experience with identity and access controls (RBAC, MFA, PKI, SSO)
  • Knowledge of secure protocols (TLS, SSH, IPsec)
  • Ability to review architecture diagrams and identify security risks
  • Familiarity with configuration and compliance automation (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools)

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, SABSA, CCSP, TOGAF, or GIAC
  • Experience securing cloud workloads (AWS, Azure, or similar)
  • Experience integrating security into CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps workflows
  • Knowledge of container and Kubernetes security, and Infrastructure as Code security best practices

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop secure systems, applications, and architectures for enterprise wide cyber environments
  • Define and maintain system security requirements, conduct risk assessments, and support security testing and evaluation
  • Perform systems hardening, vulnerability assessments, incident response support, and disaster recovery planning
  • Integrate new security capabilities into existing infrastructures and resolve architecture and testing issues
  • Create and maintain security controls documentation, standards, and architectural patterns
