About The Position

This Opportunity WSP USA is initiating a search for a Full-time CX Project Manager (Mechanical) for our New York office. Job Description Our engineers work on high quality, high-profile, national and international projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the execution of building commissioning processes (new/re/retro/continuous), energy auditing and building retrofit applications, support for sustainability certification applications, and measurement and verification techniques. WSP USA offers excellent growth opportunities: Many of our senior leaders started out as young engineers in our firm. Initially, you will work under the supervision, training, and guidance of the senior commissioning leadership. Preliminary participation in business development activities will also be encouraged.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Architectural Engineering or Construction-related field or equivalent years of related industry experience.
  • 5-7+ years of relevant post education experience in discipline with prior building and systems commissioning experience.
  • Knowledge of building commissioning principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues.
  • Technical knowledge of HVAC and building systems to evaluate and test the performance of these systems
  • Essential Professional Licensure/Certification.
  • Proficient with Computer Room / Data Center HVAC systems
  • Experience with Chillers, DX and Chilled water Computer Room Air Conditioning Units and systems
  • Experience with witnessing and executing pre-functional, functional and integrated mechanical and electrical testing.
  • Good understanding of the architectural, engineering and construction industry.
  • Ability to work independently and provide supervision in a highly collaborative team environment.

  • Essential or enhancing professional licensure/certification.
  • Knowledge of Electrical systems
  • Experience with sustainable design practices or facilities operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site during various construction phases, surveys, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, flow diagrams, computer-generated reports, and other matrices for project energy auditing actions, validation, and commissioning.
  • Perform professional building and system commissioning work by conducting research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, resources, layout, usage, and systems to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, and installation or operating permits.
  • Develop and configure, testing specifications, and readiness plans; preparing and updating checklists/punch lists and cost estimates that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
  • Involved from project inception to completion for commissioning work deliverables throughout the various project work phases including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, integration, installation, and operation.
  • Assist with advanced technologies, monitoring, modeling techniques, design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies to account for the proper installation and functioning of equipment and systems according to specifications, implementing future-ready solutions with building systems operating standards.
  • Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on various design, installation, and integration issues relating to commissioning and retro commissioning of building systems including Electrical Switchgear, distribution, electrical backup systems and automation.
  • Assist cross-functional teams with executing project work on mid-level and/or multiple concurrent projects, including budgets, tracking hours and expenses, task completion, cost and quantities of materials/equipment/labor, technical calculations, permit applications, schematics, construction, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos.
  • Assist with commissioning and operational plans, ensuring data integrity and work is compliant with all applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
  • Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, reports, sketches, calculations, cross-sections, technical drawings, spreadsheets, and other 2D/3D illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of more complex data, findings, or analyses.
  • Maintain quality control standards, document logs of control and equipment functionality testing and verification, and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, calculations, statistical analysis, and reporting.
  • Assist with development and scoping of medium- to large-sized commissioning projects.
  • Provide guidance and training to entry-level to mid-level commissioning staff.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendations to navigate, improve, prevent, control, restore, or address design, and/or installation/operational issues or opportunities.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and interpret data obtained during site assessments, offering input with developing action plans for moderate- to high-level risk installation, equipment operations, and/or mitigation activities.
  • Interact with any applicable regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, engineers, inspectors, project control, and technicians on public and privately funded building improvement and development projects, as well as proposal and business development opportunities.
  • Remain current in latest commissioning techniques and practices.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
