Requirements

  • Associates Degree or Vocational School Graduate or equivalent relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Certified Surgical Technician (CST) required.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Technician in Surgery (NCCT) preferred.
  • Certified Operating Room Technician preferred.
  • Two years' general OR experience required.
  • CVOR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the OR team in the care of patients, equipment, and supplies.
  • Provide care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during surgical procedures.
  • Understand the procedure being performed and anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
  • Ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and maintain the sterile field.
  • Assist the surgeon and/or surgical assistant during the operative procedure by carrying out tasks including sponging, suctioning, cutting suture, holding retractors, and manipulating the endoscopic camera.
