About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled CVOR Surgical Technologist III (Tier 3) to join an advanced cardiovascular operating team in Kansas City, Missouri. This senior-level technologist role supports complex open-heart, vascular, robotic, and hybrid procedures within a 585-bed regional medical center known for innovation and excellence in patient care. As a Tier 3 CVOR Tech, you’ll serve as a technical expert and mentor for peers, ensuring surgical efficiency, patient safety, and sterile field integrity in high-acuity cardiovascular and thoracic cases.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program (CORT)
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery (TS-C) – NCCT
  • Minimum 1+ year of dedicated CVOR and open-heart experience (7+ years preferred)
  • Proficiency with complex wire techniques and hybrid OR environments
  • Current BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross)

Nice To Haves

  • 7 or more years of CVOR and endovascular/hybrid experience
  • CV certification and demonstrated ability to serve as lead technologist
  • Prior experience in a high-acuity, tertiary medical center

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain the sterile field for cardiovascular and thoracic procedures.
  • Anticipate surgeon needs and manage surgical instruments and equipment during complex open-heart and hybrid cases.
  • Function as lead technologist in specialized areas including Robotic, Neuro/Spine, Burn, Total Joint, and Vascular surgery.
  • Assist in positioning, draping, and prepping patients according to procedural protocols.
  • Ensure equipment and instruments are properly sterilized, calibrated, and functioning.
  • Mentor and support junior surgical technologists in advanced procedural techniques.
  • Maintain accurate surgical counts and adhere to infection prevention standards.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and nursing staff to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Participate in on-call rotations; must live within 30 minutes of the facility.
