About The Position

The physician is responsible for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of the health problems presented by the patients. This role involves developing and cultivating positive and productive working relationships with other Corewell Health personnel, promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, compassion, collaboration, clarity, curiosity, and courage. The physician will demonstrate a commitment to service and distinctive, personalized care with both internal and external customers, striving to exceed expectations. Key aspects include assisting in meeting operational, financial, and patient satisfaction goals, and ensuring timely completion of all specific competencies and annual organizational mandatories. The physician will assess and monitor the medical needs of patients, providing quality medical services in a cost-effective, appropriate manner, and ensuring consistent coverage of the caseload. Regular communication with patients’ families, referring physicians, specialists, nursing staff, and other hospital departments regarding the plan of care and treatment is essential, including within 24 hours of admission, for any major change in a patient’s condition, and within 24 hours prior to discharge. Medical services must be documented in the patient’s medical record consistent with hospital, payor, and regulatory standards. The role also requires participation in on-call and weekend coverage, value-based reimbursement programs, quality initiatives, Quality Improvement (QI) / Quality Assurance (QA), and peer review activities. The physician will assist in the development of policies and procedures related to medical practice and quality patient care, and participate in ongoing process improvement activities through clinical paths and other related initiatives. Support for patient participation in clinical trials and research projects, including assessment of clinical safety and efficacy data consistent with Research Institute policies, is also expected. Furthermore, the position involves providing oversight, teaching, and mentorship to fellows, residents, APPs (e.g., physician assistants and advance practice registered nurses), and students, including meaningful participation with affiliated medical schools as requested.

  • Doctorate
  • LIC-Physician (MD) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • Or LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-DEA Registration - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 120 Days required
  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required

Responsibilities

  • Develop and cultivate positive and productive working relationships with other Corewell Health personnel, and promote a culture of safety, teamwork, compassion, collaboration, clarity, curiosity, and courage.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to service and distinctive, personalized care with both internal customers (coworkers, fellow employees, hospital staff, etc.) and external customers (patients, family members, referring physicians/specialists, etc.), while striving to exceed customer expectations.
  • Assist in meeting operational, financial, and patient satisfaction goals.
  • Timely completion of all specific competencies and annual organizational mandatories.
  • Assess and monitor the medical needs of patients.
  • Provide quality medical services to patients in a cost effective, appropriate manner and ensure coverage of case load at all times.
  • Communicate regularly with patients’ families, referring physicians, specialists, nursing staff and other hospital departments regarding the plan of care and treatment of patients, including within 24 hours of admission, for any major change in a patient’s condition, and within 24 hours prior to discharge.
  • Document medical services in the patient’s medical record in a manner consistent with hospital, payor, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in on-call and weekend coverage, as required by the Department.
  • Participate in value-based reimbursement programs and quality initiatives, as required by the Department.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement (QI) / Quality Assurance (QA) and peer review activities as requested.
