About The Position

Primarily works in the cardiac surgery operating room to provide cardiopulmonary bypass support on adult open-heart cases. Responsible for the operation of extra-corporeal circulation equipment during surgical and medical situations, primarily cardio pulmonary by-pass surgery. Responsible for appropriate selection of equipment and techniques to be used, and to ensure the safe management and analysis of coagulation, physiologic monitoring, blood gas and chemistry monitoring, hematologic monitoring, hypothermia, hemoconcentration, and hemodilution. Follows established perfusion protocols relating to patient demographics, surgical procedure, and situation including initiation of emergency procedures. May be involved with research and educational opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Provide cardiopulmonary bypass support on adult open-heart cases.
• Operate extra-corporeal circulation equipment during surgical and medical situations, primarily cardio pulmonary by-pass surgery.
