About The Position

To be fullyengagedinprovidingQuality/NoHarm,CustomerServiceandStewardshipby providing diagnostic cardiovascular, invasive cardiovascular, peripheral, device implants, and electrophysiology studies in a timely, safe and efficient manner.The Cardio Invasive Specialist is expected to work in a team environment assisting with cleaning of rooms, restocking and updating supplies, as well as assisting with development and implementation of departmental needs and projects.The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist needs to be proficient in all aspects of angiography, sterile preparation, assessment, documentation, and monitoring consistent with the policies and procedures of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and hospital administration, with responsibility to adhere to all the rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. With additional inventory duties, this position requires providing world class quality, competitive value, and outstanding service through effective inventory management, supply logistics, computer support, and supply channel management for the Cardiac CathLab/Special Procedures areas.Assists the department through action and education to achieve product standardization, optimum inventory levels, and reduction of operating expenses across them community hospital system.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Florida RN licensure or endorsement permit.
  • Graduate of accredited program in Cardiopulmonary Technology/Cardiovascular Invasive
  • Specialist or Respiratory Therapy/Radiological Technology/EMS-P with at least two years of experience.
  • Must hold current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain.
  • Must hold current AHA ACLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in inventory, receiving, or logistics.
  • Analytical skills necessary to make sound recommendations based on data analysis and operational needs.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with BCX, Microsoft Office products.
  • Able to take call on a rotating basis and be available in the Cath Lab within 30 minutes of notification.
  • Able to work long variable hours.
  • Must be able to transport patients via stretcher over carpet/tile areas unassisted with weight up to 300 lbs. 10-15 times daily.
  • Must be able to transfer patient population from stretcher/bed to procedure table:
  • Procedure table to stretcher/bed for weights up to 60 lbs. / per person, 10-15 times daily. Able to stand on feet with 30 lbs. of additional weight for eight hours a day
  • Ability to bend and stoop as inventory stocking and receiving requires.
  • Lifting of bulky boxes.
  • Pushing and pulling of carts.

  • Ability to work closely with multiple departments including Management, Leads, Contract and Supply and Cath Lab/Interventional Radiology Staff across the system.
  • Fully competent in all areas of Cardiac Cath and Interventional Radiology.
  • Proficiency with BCX.
  • Inventory par level management appropriate to meet clinical needs while being financially prudent.
  • Addresses and manages case cart issues.
  • Insures supplies and implants are kept organized and in the correct location.
  • Performs routine cycle counts.
  • Puts orders away appropriately.
  • Demonstrates proper ordering, receiving, unpacking, & storing.

Nice To Haves

  • Current RCIS or CCRN certification preferred
  • Cath Lab or supply / implant familiarity, inventory management, purchasing, or other related experience preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of PeopleSoft knowledge and experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology and uses this knowledge to enhance hemodynamic and angiographic techniques as observed by the attending physician. Assists the physician and anticipates equipment needs.
  • Adheres to approved standards of aseptic technique during any procedure in the Cardiac Cath Lab, utilizing equipment and supplies in a safe and prudent manner.
  • Facilitates implementation of physician's orders accurately, promptly, and courteously.
  • Identifies the needs of the patient.
  • Promotes interdepartmental/client relationships with positive interactive skills, and maintains a professional, team-orientated working environment.
  • Capable of performing CQI daily
  • Ensures proper procedural guidelines and precautions are followed.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe environment for the patient.
  • Assigns and supervises accordingly those assigned to him/her by the Supervisor/ Manager.
  • Demonstrates competency and knowledge in efficiently preparing a patient for Cardiac Cath Lab procedure using established aseptic technique.
  • Prepares patient for procedure in a timely fashion and notifies physician promptly.
  • Moves, lifts, or assists patient appropriately to procedure table and provides for maximum privacy during procedure.
  • Gives report to the accepting Nurse and accompanies patient to his/her room when necessary.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of drugs commonly used in the Cardiac Cath Lab.
  • Ability to perform all aspects of monitoring, recording, scrubbing, and holding Room responsibilities with exceptional level of professionalism and expertise.
  • Ability to perform all aspects of circulating, with the exception of Conscious Sedation/Narcotic drug therapy as ordered by physician.
  • Demonstrates and practices proper protection measures to insure radiation safety to self and fellow employees, visitors and physicians.
  • Demonstrates and practices proper protection measures to minimize risk of exposure to possible hazardous materials.
  • Attends all department staff meetings and/or reviews and initials missed meetings.
  • Recognizes potential emergency/life threatening situations and implements preventative measures as directed by the physician.
  • Demonstrates technical and manual dexterity during procedures while establishing priorities for each task to be performed under a physician's direction.
  • Records temporary playback of procedure for initial, immediate review by physician.
  • Insure supplies, implants, and consignment items are kept organized and in the correct location.
  • Manage all issues to case carts based on effective and efficient system replenishment.
  • Manages and proactively maintains established par levels and utilization as required
  • Cath Lab and Special Procedure rooms supply replenishment.
  • Identifies opportunities for product standardization, inventory placement and processes contributing to high level efficiency and customer service.
  • Demonstrates ability to operate, problem-solve and improvise common equipment malfunctions.
  • Manages recalls across the community hospital system.
  • Collaborates and organizes yearly Physical Inventory duties across the community hospitals.
  • Ensures all supplies and medications are properly charged to each patient accurately utilizing the hospitals inventory systems with a team approach.
  • Ensures all Supplies are properly rotated and removed from procedure areas where applicable utilizing a team approach.
  • Performs routine cycle counts and involved greatly in annual Physical Inventory.
  • Uses BCX to replenish Cath Lab and Special Procedure supplies, as needed including no charge PO's
  • Partner with department associates in purchasing and receiving functions to enforce purchasing compliance.
  • Standardizes equipment across the community hospitals to help assist with contract requirements and staff familiarity with equipment.
  • Recognizes and communicate the electrocardiographic/ hemodynamic changes to the physician and appropriate staff members throughout the procedure.
  • Files all patient data and films in accordance with the established department system.
  • Documents accurate and pertinent data concerning the patient's condition during procedure and reports data to the appropriate person(s).
  • Demonstrates ability to learn and practice new techniques and equipment utilization by attending training sessions and familiarizing self with new procedure revisions as they occur.
  • Cath Lab and Special Procedure rooms supply replenishment.
  • Works in conjunction with Cardiac Services Management and staff in developing appropriate par levels.
  • Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing of IV solutions, and supplies.
  • Maintains vendor schedule absent of any conflicts, as well as ensuring proper credentialing.
