About The Position

The Cutting Operator will be responsible for tending to the machines to cut, bend, or straighten material. They will also examine completed workpieces for defects and sort defective pieces according to types of flaws.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of materials, production processes, quality control, and completion of training.
  • Communication Skills- Active Listening and Verbal Communication; Actively participating in a team environment.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing dynamics.
  • Visual acuity to examine or inspect material.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, order jackets, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Standing for sustained periods of time.
  • Making substantial movements/motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Frequently lifting and/or moving spools weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb and stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 year manufacturing experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous cutting experience would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Start and stop machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data.
  • Read work orders or production schedules to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, locations of cutting lines, or dimensions and tolerances.
  • Set up, operate, or tend multiple machines to cut material.
  • Responsible for ensuring production/quality levels are met, perform size changes, and generate minimal scrap.
  • Test and adjust machine speeds or actions, according to product specifications, using gauges and hand tools.
  • Plan sequences of operations, applying knowledge of physical properties of workpiece materials
  • Position, align, and secure workpieces against fixtures or stops on machine beds.
  • Load workpieces into machines.
  • Identify quality problems with component(s) or finished products and take the appropriate measures.
  • Perform assigned preventive maintenance as needed.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) -relevant measures (health, safety and environment) to promote an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) workspace.
  • Ensure full adherence to the “Leader Standard Work” profile.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and effective manner.
  • As required, provide training based on the controls plans to new and/or junior employees with a focus on performing work in a safe, efficient, quality minded manner.
  • Other duties as assigned my management.
