Campbell Fittings is pleased to announce that we are currently recruiting a Cutoff/Press Setup/Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate for this position will have prior machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment and display mechanical aptitude.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills including active listening
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues efficiently and able to ask for help when needed
  • Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software
  • Must be comfortable and efficient in working in a busy open-floor environment
  • Must be comfortable working in a team environment as well as individually
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of working in a manufacturing environment required
  • 3+ years of prior machine operator experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift experience certification a plus

Responsibilities

  • Set-up and operate from one to five hand operated or automated cutoff machines to cut steel, brass, aluminum, and stainless steel pipe and tubing to specified lengths.
  • Use overhead crane to bring stock to machines.
  • Load magazines on automatic machines.
  • Visually inspect material for defects before cutting
  • Use rules, micrometers, squares, and dial calipers to check work.
  • Adjust length stops, jaws, loaders, speeds, and feeds when necessary.
  • Change blades and make related adjustments.
  • Change and adjust blade cleaning wire wheels when necessary.
  • Replace jaws, saw guides, adjustment hardware, and other minor parts subject to wear.
  • Gather blades and prepare paperwork for saw blade sharpening service.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of blades, cutting fluids, and wire wheels by informing purchasing department when stock is low.
  • Notify production control manager or plant manager when problems occur.
  • Bring empty containers to machines and move filled containers to proper storage area using hand trucks, hydraulic pallet trucks, and forklift truck (when qualified).
  • Load and unload pipe, tubing, and other materials from delivery trucks using outside overhead crane and/or material handling devices above.
  • Organize storage of stock in racks using safe stacking methods.
  • Keep machines free of dirt and metal chips.
  • Remove cuttings from machine base and place in proper containers.
  • Add coolant, lubricate machines, and maintain work area in a clean and safe condition.
  • Perform daily crane inspection and fill out appropriate form.
  • Fill out shop tickets and attach to cutoff materials.
  • Use computer system to access part prints, operating procedures, and quality assurance forms.
  • Fill out production forms daily.
  • Account for scrap and place in proper containers.
  • Follow all established safety rules and procedures including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which includes: Mandatory: safety glasses, hard sole anti-slip shoes; Optional: Steel-toe shoes (toe protection shoes), gloves, hearing protection.
  • Report defective materials and unusual or unsafe conditions to Production Control Manager and/or Plant Manager.
  • Performs other related or additional duties as assigned.
