Citarella’s Commissary Kitchen in Hunts Point, Bronx is seeking a PRODUCE DEPARTMENT MANAGER to join our team! This role will be responsible for all aspects of the produce department functions including overseeing and developing personnel, managing daily production, communicating with other departments, and the timely and accurate completion all daily produce orders.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a management role in a fresh produce warehouse/production setting
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to supervise a diverse workforce
  • Direct experience with production, procurement, and warehouse management enterprise software
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, motivate, and train teams within a multi-department operation
  • Manage multiple-shift operations of the fresh produce and cut produce processing/production department.
  • Monitor raw material and packaging inventories to ensure adequate supply and freshness to support production requirements
  • Ensures freshness of products by closely adhering to rotation and dating policy as needed
  • Assure residual Inventory on produce meets grade and condition requirements and communicate with Sr. Director of Produce on findings of products.
  • Filling in as needed to assist in the selecting process produce department.
  • Conducts regular product inspection in all coolers and refrigerated warehouse space to ensure quality and proper rotation of products.
  • Ensure product quality is up to standard.
  • Adhere to all applicable Federal, State, local and industry regulations that pertain to warehouse operations.
  • Instruct in the proper use of equipment to ensure safety and sanitary standards are maintained
  • Work on special warehouse/company initiatives & projects as needed
  • Responsible for overall receiving and selecting operations which includes: Receiving includes- accurate BOL’s Checking quality /Temp/ Size Miss rotation or miss picks of products
