About The Position

The Customs Specialist supports the Customs Manager in ensuring accurate tariff classification, customs entry compliance, and adherence to U.S. Customs and Trade regulations. This role works closely with internal stakeholders and external customs brokers to maintain compliance, support Free Trade Zone (FTZ) operations, and ensure the accuracy of import documentation and systems data.

Requirements

Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively.
Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in product classification, customs entries, and customs compliance.
Experience supporting or working within Free Trade Zone (FTZ) operations preferred.
Experience with consumer goods commodities including kitchen appliances, electronics, hair accessories, and cosmetic/travel bags.
Demonstrated experience with Section 232 Aluminum and Steel tariffs.
Working knowledge of ACE (Automated Commercial Environment)

Responsibilities

Assist the Customs Manager with product classification to ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and internal standards.
Review material master (new item set-up) requests and related reports to validate correct tariff classifications.
Audit customs entries, including port and FTZ entries, for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
Identify discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions with customs brokers.
Respond to customs broker inquiries and follow through to resolution in a timely manner.
Assist with the development, maintenance, and periodic review of Customs Compliance Manuals and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
