About The Position

As a Customs Manager, you will lead North American import and export operations with a primary focus on the U.S. and Canada. You'll partner with brokers, freight forwarders, and internal stakeholders to ensure our supply chain moves seamlessly, while safeguarding compliance with evolving global trade regulations. This role offers the opportunity to influence strategy, strengthen compliance programs, and deliver measurable business value through smarter, faster, and more resilient customs operations.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in customs regulations, clearance, and brokerage (technology industry experience preferred).
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. import regulations, tariff classifications, country of origin, and valuation.
  • Strong vendor management experience, with the ability to influence performance across brokers and service providers.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing process improvements and compliance best practices.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, project management, and prioritization skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities, with a talent for collaboration across global teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint); SAP experience a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain, or related field required; MS/MBA preferred.
  • Experience with supply chain security programs (CTPAT, OEA) and duty drawback highly valued.
  • Supervisory experience, including delegation, training, and performance management, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all customs and trade compliance activities for U.S. and Canadian operations, ensuring adherence to global regulations and internal standards.
  • Manage customs brokers and freight forwarders, including performance reviews (QBRs), SOPs, and scorecards to drive accountability and efficiency.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve cross-border efficiencies, reduce costs, and minimize compliance risks.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on trade compliance, providing insights and updates on regulatory changes, and advising global stakeholders on customs strategies.
  • Develop, document, and enforce customs policies and procedures covering classification, country of origin, valuation, and recordkeeping.
  • Mine and analyze trade data to quantify risk, monitor performance, and guide decision-making.
  • Build organizational capability by delivering training to teams, partners, and vendors on compliance requirements and best practices.
  • Partner with supply chain, logistics, legal, and business units to align customs operations with company goals.
  • Drive projects and initiatives that strengthen compliance, streamline processes, and support long-term business growth.
