We are currently seeking an Entry Writer or Customs Broker for our New York branch at Express Customs Clearance USA Inc. This position is primarily responsible for entry writer activities, making it an ideal opportunity for individuals who possess some knowledge of the import process and are eager to learn. As an Entry Writer, you will prepare customs entries using Descartes Editrade and manage the follow-up clearance process for all entries you prepare. Effective communication is essential, as you will need to address documentation discrepancies with clients and supervisors. You will also be responsible for reviewing rates, tracing product movement, and filing entries with Customs, ensuring proper classification and valuation of merchandise. Your duties will include preparing all necessary documents, such as Customs forms and billing invoices, and conducting thorough document reviews to verify accuracy, including country of origin, Importer of Record (IOR), terms of sale, and value, to ensure compliance with federal regulations. Daily follow-up on documentation discrepancies will be required, necessitating strong troubleshooting skills and effective communication, both verbally and in writing, with customers and foreign origins. You will provide efficient and accurate customer service for our import/export clients and perform any other tasks assigned by your supervisor or manager.
