About The Position

As the Customs Compliance Manager you will ensure compliance with international trade law and customs regulations importing into the US from the UK and EU. Your expertise in customs compliance will drive the development of a robust trade compliance framework to mitigate risk and enable seamless cross-border trade for our North America based operations. You will work closely with the Operations team and freight forwarders to adapt and align to new requirements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in Trade and Customs.
  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) or relevant years of experience UK/EU importing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Customs and Trade Regulatory and Compliance topics.
  • In-depth knowledge of HTS classification, customs regulations, and trade compliance laws.
  • Proactive approach to guiding the team in complex trade and customs compliance matters.
  • Ability to communicate at multiple levels across various stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail for preparing payroll and delivering high accuracy.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret payroll data and ensure compliance.
  • Innovative problem-solving techniques to address payroll challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop trade strategy for the North American organization and communicate effectively with senior leadership and cross functional teams.
  • Ensure all imports and exports comply with relevant custom laws and international trade agreements, and all duties are paid accurately and timely.
  • Oversee the accurate classification of goods using Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes and customs valuation regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor customs compliance policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to U.S. and international regulations.
  • Partner with freight forwarders to ensure accurate clearance of imports and exports, audit them and hold accountable to KPIs.
  • Lead internal audits related to customs classification, identify compliance risks, support customs inquiries and investigations.
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives such as duty drawback, PMS, FTA, Chapter 98 and other Duty Preference Programs.
