About The Position

ByteDance is seeking a dedicated individual to manage customs clearance operations, ensuring compliance with customs and related tax laws and regulations in the U.S. This role is crucial for supporting cross-border e-commerce activities and involves direct interaction with customs officials and logistics service providers. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and submitting required customs documentation, identifying potential risks, and collaborating with various teams to develop strategies that minimize delays and penalties. The position also includes developing policies to optimize customs operations and conducting training for internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage customs clearance operations, ensuring compliance with customs and related tax laws and regulations in the U.S.
• Direct the preparation and submission of required customs documentation, including commercial invoices and customs declarations.
• Identify and analyze potential risks.
• Collaborate with supply chain, logistics, and legal teams to develop mitigation strategies to avoid or minimize delays and penalties.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to optimize system capabilities to monitor customs risks.
• Serve as a liaison to customs officials, customs brokers, and logistics service providers to resolve disputes and challenges.
• Generate and maintain documentation to evaluate the company's customs operations, including compliance metrics and clearance timelines.
• Monitor developments in cross-border trade and tax laws, regulations, and policies.
• Conduct trainings for internal teams regarding U.S. customs compliance requirements.
• Mentor junior-level team members.
