The Customer Service Representative at San Joaquin County Health Commission is responsible for addressing and resolving inquiries and issues from both external and internal customers in a call center environment. This role is essential in providing information on benefits, eligibility, claims, and authorizations, while ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. The position requires effective communication and problem-solving skills to handle a high volume of calls and documentation efficiently.

  • Respond to and resolve inquiries from external and internal customers in a call center environment.
  • Provide information on benefits, eligibility, claims, and authorizations over the phone and in person.
  • Research and resolve issues related to claims and authorizations, monitoring progress.
  • Create required documentation, including call logs and tracking systems.
  • High school diploma or general education degree; customer service experience required.
  • Ability to handle heavy call volume (50-100 calls per day) efficiently and effectively.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to express oneself clearly and professionally.
  • Basic conflict resolution skills and the ability to use tact and diplomacy in emotional situations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic problem-solving and analytical skills, including routine analysis and data interpretation.
  • Basic knowledge of contact center systems and proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Experience in customer service in a health plan, managed care, and/or Medi-Cal.
  • At least one year handling heavy call volume (50-100 calls per day).
