About The Position

Assist customers with finding the books they need, either in person or over the phone, placing special orders, ringing up customers through point-of-sale, working with our team to meet our sales goals.

Requirements

  • Available to work during store hours and specific after-hours events, including evenings, and weekends.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and knowledge of basic mathematics.
  • Strong relational skills, seeking to build relationships with co-workers, and customers.
  • Ability to multitask with attention to detail, must be able to stand for long periods of time, and have the capability to lift, bend, and twist as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Cash handling and POS (point-of-sale) experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure exceptional customer service by answering customer questions in-store and over the phone.
  • Communicate effectively with other team members and department heads.
  • Maintain knowledge of current inventory and promotions, best selling titles, and new releases; as well as upcoming in-store events and security protocol.
  • Assist with ordering special orders for customers using database, ship special orders, shelve books, and organize used books.
  • Help open and close the store, operate a POS system, handle cash, credit cards, checks, etc.
  • Participate in team initiatives, meetings, internal and external events, and other assigned responsibilities.
