Under moderate supervision and following standard procedures with some independent judgment, this position is responsible for providing effective customer service for all internal and external customers by using excellent, in-depth knowledge of all Personal Lines products, company forms, and programs. The role involves front line underwriting of current business, proactively identifying cross-sell and upsell opportunities from existing business, and thoroughly underwriting the risk at the time of quote, binding, and issuance. The position has defined underwriting authority for rewrites and requires effective communication with policy holders, agents, third party individuals, vendors, and team members within the customer service department.

  • Builds and maintains working relationships with customers and agents.
  • Supports policy holders by responding to inquiries regarding insurance availability and eligibility of policy and coverages.
  • Completes full review of policy coverages, advises policy holders of coverage options, and determines eligibility and acceptability of policy change requests.
  • Follows up with policy holders regarding all necessary underwriting requests to complete a new business policy or endorsement issuance.
  • Completes Replacement Cost Estimator (RCE) on any homeowner coverage changes.
  • Communicates verbally, in writing, and electronically with customers, agents, and vendors.
  • Keeps detailed records of customer interactions and transactions, recording details of inquiries, complaints, policy quotes and issuance, and general comments, as well as actions taken.
  • Fields initial claims and billing inquiries.
  • Identifies sales opportunities for all Personal Lines insurance products.
  • Completes risk assessment of policy holder and determines eligibility.
  • Completes policy quotes.
  • Completes Replacement Cost Estimator (RCE) on all new business quoted or issued.
  • Reviews applications and binds coverage for customers quoted.
  • Solicits sale of new or additional services or products.
  • Processes policy changes such as address changes, vehicle additions, or coverage changes.
  • Provides training support for team by creating or modifying tools/job aids utilized and facilitating training of new hires and current team members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Two to four years related experience and/or training.
  • Associate's degree (A.A.) from a two-year college/technical school or equivalent combination of education and related experience/training.
  • Property & Casualty License required.
  • Ability to work legally in the United States.
