As a Senior Chemist, you will develop coating products for Automotive OEM customers. You will lead complex technical projects, drives innovation, and support technology approvals while collaborating across cross-functional and global teams. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Science Degree in Chemistry or related Engineering or Science field with 5 or more years of coating experience
  • Project management experience and ability to support multiple projects
  • Experience in using statistical tools for data analysis
  • Strong experience in technology transfer across different regions (globally)
  • Experience in development of Primer and Basecoat (WB/SB), and Clear coat
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Flexibility to lead meeting with Japan during the nights/earlier mornings
  • Agility to support unexpected issues outside of office hours
  • Excellent knowledge of office packages (word, excel, power point) and preferred basic knowledge on power BI, power automate and power apps.
  • Language skills are preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 15

Responsibilities

  • Develop products for Automotive OEM customers, including new color and product development projects
  • Lead technology cost, complexity, and performance improvement projects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, manage, and execute projects using project management skills, process technology, manufacturing knowledge, and internal and external resources
  • Independently plan and direct all aspects of assigned project areas while managing resources and timelines for customer teams
  • Apply root cause analysis and BPI tools to resolve technical, manufacturing, and field issues
  • Lead formula optimization and raw material initiative projects
  • Influence technical direction on projects outside of direct responsibilities and lead more than one technology area
  • Seek out new projects and challenging assignments and clearly communicate action plans to appropriate stakeholders
  • Communicate effectively at all organizational levels and motivate peers and associates in cooperative efforts
  • Make difficult technical and decisions and earn support across teams, customers, and partners
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement while driving positive change
  • Lead change programs and guide technology approvals
  • Use and support standard processes and internal IT tools, including LFA, RMT/OPLA, and INDX
