The person in this position will be responsible for the management of all GP, MP, Mega Mex, and Deli sales across all UNFI regions, as well as Schnuck’s / Certco. They will manage a team of Hormel dedicated brokers from Advantage, as well as 3 deli specialty brokers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of sales/marketing/sales strategy experience.
  • Record of successful sales management experience in CPG/Retail at either the Senior Customer Executive, Customer Business Manager, Regional Business Manager, Category Manager, National Category Sales Manager, Brand Manager, or other equivalent levels of responsibility.
  • Proven ability to utilize syndicated data and business analytics.
  • Pattern of initiative.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage an array of complex projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative skills.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Helps develop, implement, and execute the customer strategy, merchandising plan, and new item presentation process for the customer at both the distributor and retailer level.
  • Works with the Corporate team, the Sales Strategy team, the Sales team, and broker teams to establish quarterly, 6-month, and annual objectives that meet corporate category volume, brand volume, market share, promotional spending, logistical efficiencies, and profit objectives.
  • Executes distribution, shelving, merchandising, pricing (DSMP) objectives agreed to during the business planning process.
  • Works with Sales Strategy and the corporate team to review and interpret trade promotion activities/analysis to effectively evaluate and direct trade funds.
  • Coaches and develops a team of broker representatives by providing training feedback and development planning, along with performance.
  • Shares results and feedback with the internal team regarding customer, category, brand, and competitive activity.
  • Acts as the "go to source" for information about the customer’s strategy, category dynamics with the customer, competitor’s strategy with the customer and division specific dynamics and results.
  • Penetrates mid-level and upper-level management of the customer's organizations to align customer and corporate objectives.
  • Participates in learning and developmental workshops and activities in local, regional, and national meetings intended to improve selling techniques, knowledge of customer and company, and other business practices designed to effectiveness in the marketplace.
  • Manages and controls operating costs in the areas of, but not limited to, trade investments, office space and supplies, travel and entertaining expenses, and other expenses directly under the incumbent's control.
  • Maintains a strong level of competency in all company approved software and mainframe applications, for the purpose of executing required sales reporting procedures, trade promotion evaluations, sales presentation materials, syndicated data trends, and other sales collateral and materials.
