Accenture LLP has multiple openings for the position of Custom Software Engineering Manager in Chicago, IL. The job duties include designing, developing, and testing custom software solutions across multiple system components or applications. The role involves creating implementation or integration approaches for applications and components, designing and coding applications in line with programming standards and interface specifications, and architecting development strategies for applications and components. The manager will coordinate development streams in line with overall program timing and milestones, build deployment plans, and design, build, assemble, and configure application or technical architecture components using business requirements. Additionally, the position requires teaming with stakeholders on application and component design to secure buy-in, and developing and directing software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.

  • Design, develop and test custom software solutions across multiple system components or applications.
  • Create implementation or integration approach for applications and components.
  • Design and code applications in line with programming standards and interface specifications.
  • Architect development strategy for applications and components.
  • Coordinate development streams in line with overall program(s) timing and milestones.
  • Build deployment plan, including the development plan and schedule, keeping in line with overall project timeline.
  • Design, build, assemble, and configure application or technical architecture components using business requirements.
  • Team with stakeholders on application and component design to secure buy-in.
  • Develop and direct software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Applications, Engineering, or related field.
  • Must have 5 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the IT consulting industry.
  • Must have 5 years of experience in modernizing legacy business systems to gain operational efficiencies, address technology constraints, and support adoption of newer technologies.
  • Must have 5 years of experience in designing and developing software applications using Java, Oracle databases, SQL, and implementing business processes.
  • Must have 5 years of experience in designing and developing application framework to establish foundations and standards for code migration and enhancement development.
  • Must have 5 years of experience in fixing defects in COTS (custom off the shelf) product code.
  • Must have 5 years of experience in handling software packaging and deployment.
  • Must have 5 years of experience working across all stages of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements elicitation, designing, building, deploying, and testing.
  • Must have 3 years of experience leading a team of designers, developers, or testers in handling end-to-end application delivery.
  • Must have 3 years of experience managing project risks or issues, and providing project status updates to the client and internal stakeholders.
  • Must have willingness and ability to travel domestically approximately 80% of the time to meet client needs.
