As a Custody Officer, you play a vital part in creating a safe and secure environment for detainees. With your professional and respectful attitude, you help ensure their welfare needs are met and their time spent in the Justice system is as smooth as possible. Each day presents challenges, and you have a variety of roles that will keep you engaged and working closely with your team. Why consider this new adventure? Unique Training Experience: Take advantage of the fully funded Certificate 3 in Correctional Services, enhancing your skills and opening doors to new opportunities. Paid Training: Enjoy 6 weeks of fully paid training, equipping you with the necessary skills for this unique role. Pay increase after training: Start at $27.35 during training, increasing to $29.50 post-training.

Requirements

  • Availability to train full time for 6 weeks in Perth
  • Commitment to a minimum of 12 months to obtain qualifications: We value your dedication and commitment to your professional growth.
  • Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical, including a drug & alcohol test: Ensuring the safety and well-being of our team members and detainees is our top priority.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport and supervise detainees during critical activities.
  • Participate in court activities for security requirements.
  • Manage conflict and communicate with empathy, making a positive impact on the lives of detainees.
  • Value diversity and display a fair and open-minded attitude towards people in custody.
  • Provide safety and security for Persons in Custody, staff, employees, and members of the public.
  • Enjoy the variety of performing walking and mobile patrols of a designated area.
  • Be responsible for supervising people in custody, escorting them to appointments or court appearances, and maintaining accurate records.

Benefits

  • Western Australian State Government Pay Contribution Allowance (PCA): $256 per fortnight (before tax)
  • Meal allowances when working over 9.6 hours on any day or staying overnight
  • On Call Allowance - $25.73 per day when on call
  • Officer In-Charge Allowance - $3 per hour whilst undertaking additional duties of OIC
  • Overtime rates apply when working over 7.6 hours in one day or before 5am / after 7pm
  • 175% rate of pay on Saturdays, 200% rate of pay on Sundays
