About The Position

This is a part-time position (15-29 hours per week)  Most positions are evening hours starting at 5:00 pm - 1:00 am, though some exceptions may apply.  Workdays may vary.   Under general supervision, performs service work of routine difficulty in various custodial duties. Cleans and maintains County facilities, including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, polishing, carpet spotting and cleaning restrooms, entries, walkway, and glass using appropriate cleaning solutions. Performs equipment care, including cleaning and changing belts and bags. Identifies and reports repair needs and maintains inventory of cleaning supplies for assigned buildings. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • No experience required.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license.
  • Knowledge of general cleaning procedures.
  • Knowledge of proper chemical usage.
  • Knowledge of procedures, materials, and operation of equipment used in custodial work.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and required preventative measures.
  • Skill in communicating effectively verbally and in writing and communicating orally in a face-to-face setting and by telephone with public and employees.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
  • Skill in organization and adherence to detail.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform manual labor.
  • Ability to work both independently and under close supervision.
  • Ability to work in jail environment and around inmates in secured areas.
  • Ability to mix and work with cleaning fluids, chemicals, or similar solutions using personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, representatives of other organizations, County officials, and the public.
  • Ability to keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department.
  • Ability to remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters and maintain discretion always.
  • Ability to act with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.
