Requirements

  • CPR and First Aid certification required within 60 days of hire.
  • Team player, with superb interpersonal skills. An ability to work with co-workers and the public in a positive and friendly manner and resolve conflicts as needed.
  • Self-starter with the ability to multi-task, work independently, and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record with access to personal vehicle preferred.
  • High School degree or GED or working towards completion of high school.

Responsibilities

  • Commits to the YMCA’s mission, vision, and values to promote healthy living, social responsibility and youth development.
  • Works closely with supervisor to keep the YMCA's buildings and properties functioning and secure while ensuring safety, licensing standards, and the YMCA's reputation. Ensures campus remains secure by monitoring facility and member activities; locking up supplies & equipment; and locking the facilities at the end of each day.
  • Works with other staff to ensure the YMCA’s facilities are clean, sanitized, organized, and safe. Facility areas include the Main Campus and Camp Knickerbocker.
  • Cleans, sanitizes, wipes down all surfaces (including glass), and removes trash from all facility areas.
  • Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies, creates weekly supply orders, and supports order management. Ensures rooms are fitted with appropriate cleaning and/or toiletry supplies at all times.
  • Assists with light maintenance including light-bulb replacement, minor plumbing fixes, simple repairs, and routine maintenance of cleaning equipment.
  • Coordinates with supervisor in keeping YMCA campus grounds clean and orderly. Duties include but are not limited to mowing, raking, snow removal, salting, and trash removal.
  • Records and reports all needed repairs and completes repairs as directed.
  • Supports program staff with moving furniture and equipment and arranging equipment for special events.
  • Builds effective, authentic relationships with participants and connects participants to the YMCA.
  • As a Mandated Reporter, recognizes signs of abuse or neglect and reports to supervisor and the appropriate authorities.
  • Performs other tasks and projects as assigned.
