About The Position

The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area. Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Job Summary Custodian provides coordinated janitorial services in the school and parish buildings and provides set-up and cleaning services for evening or weekend activities in the parish facilities.

Requirements

• Must have knowledge of janitorial equipment, supplies and their applications
• Knowledge of and experience with industrial strength cleaning chemicals required
• Previous janitorial experience required
• General knowledge and support of the Catholic Church, Catholic sacraments, Catholic rites and liturgies
• Must have ability to perform outlined tasks with minimum supervision and be self-motivated
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to tolerate varying temperatures and climate changes
• Frequent lifting, must be able to lift at least 50 - 75 pounds
• Ability to stand for long periods
• Ability to climb ladders
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule with evening and/or weekend hours

Responsibilities

• Maintains church, other parish buildings and school in a clean and orderly manner. This may include dust mopping, vacuuming and waxing of floors, cleaning bathrooms, washing walls and windows and trash removal.
• Performs scheduled monthly, semiannual or annual janitorial duties, i.e., floor waxing, painting, window washing, carpet cleaning, etc, as directed by Maintenance Supervisor, and in accordance with parish maintenance schedule.
• Inspect and clean walls for graffiti and markings, if necessary.
• Performs light maintenance as directed by Maintenance Supervisor.
• Cleans up litter outside and grounds keeping.
• Duties may include facility set-up, hauling and moving of furniture and equipment.
