About The Position

Responsible for performing the duties related to the custodial maintenance and upkeep of the Newport Administration Building, Newport Warehouse and other District facilities. This includes keeping spaces clean, sanitized, safe, orderly, and secure. Essential Functions Support the District’s mission to serve our customers and foster a positive workplace. Perform general, routine and deep-cleaning custodial tasks on a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule. Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in all areas, including offices, hallways, and kitchen spaces. Dust furniture, window seals, baseboards, fixtures and other surfaces. Clean and sanitize restrooms and restock paper products and soap dispensers. Empty trash receptacles and replace liners throughout the facility, transporting waste to designated dumpster areas. Wipe down and disinfect surfaces, such as countertops, tables, and fixtures. Wash walls, interior windows and glass doors. Load, run and empty the dishwasher, removing and stacking clean dishes and utensils into the proper storage areas. Report needed repair work and concerns to appropriate staff. Perform minor repairs to building fixtures and equipment. Pick up paper and other debris from grounds and buildings. Assure security of buildings and grounds during assigned times. Move and/or re-arrange furniture, chairs, desks, tables, etc. Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. Perform minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or other similar activities. Perform painting on interior surfaces to cover scuff marks, repair minor damage, or refresh small areas as needed. Assist with minor and basic plumbing, electrical and structural repairs of District facilities. Assist with lawn maintenance, leaf removal, snow removal, sanding/de-icing and similar maintenance activities on District properties. Assists in on-the-job training of new staff on routine procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Other Duties: Must work directly or indirectly with District customers on a regular, ongoing basis. Must provide a high level of professional, prompt, efficient, accurate, courteous, and reliable service in such a manner as to reflect favorably on the District and to ensure high quality service to District customers. Understand and demonstrate a commitment to the PUD’s mission, vision, core values, and strategic plan. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures. Promote a safe work environment for all employees, contractors, and customers, in order to ensure a reliable workforce and an educated community. Contribute to the achievement of District goals by cross training with and providing back up to the Warehouse Department to cover breaks, vacations, outages, and emergencies, and by assisting other areas of the department as required. Be respectful of all employees and customers, listening to their requests and understanding their needs. Act as a responsible steward of public assets and trust. Foster open and honest communications, listen, and understand other perspectives. Foster teamwork and promote unity of the District and its departments. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Interpersonal skills including clear and concise communication both in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to use independent and discretionary judgment; manage confidential information.
  • Valid driver license
  • Post-offer background check
