Don't miss out on the excitement and join our important mission today! Position: Discovery Cube of Orange County is seeking a part-time Custodian to join our Facilities team. The Custodial team member ensures that the facility is well maintained and will provide a clean, safe and comfortable environment for guests and staff. The facilities team member will also provide support in maintaining the proper function of our facility and exhibits.

Requirements

Previous custodial or janitorial experience required
Proficient use of cleaning materials, methods and equipment used in janitorial service
Understanding of hazards, accident prevention and safety practices for janitorial work
Must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time without reasonable accommodation
Friendly demeanor and ability to interact with adults and children of all ages
Must be a proactive, self-starter and require little supervision
Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
Ability to work overnight shifts consistently; flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Comfortable working alone when necessary
Reliable, self-motivated, and able to follow detailed cleaning procedures and facilities maintenance procedures

Responsibilities

Perform custodial and facilities maintenance duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, trash removal, painting, pressure washing, minimal landscaping and restroom cleaning throughout the science center
Ensure all public and staff areas are clean, safe, and ready for visitors/guests
Operate cleaning equipment and handle cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety guidelines
Assist with setup and breakdown of special events
Monitor and clean restrooms throughout each day, ensuring they are well-stocked with all necessary supplies
Emptying trashcans throughout the facility, both indoors and outdoors on a regular basis
Inventory management and replenishment of cleaning supplies
Perform routine floor maintenance, promptly address all floor-related incidents, and all emergency clean-up
Work closely with Exhibits team to clean and maintain exhibit spaces
Maintain a high level of safety standards
Complete other duties as assigned
