About The Position

The Custodian safely performs skilled and routine maintenance, grounds, and housekeeping tasks necessary to maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the facility.

Requirements

  • Partial High School education; High School Diploma/G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
  • Strong sanitation habits.
  • Strong customer service abilities; actively looks for ways to assist customers and coworkers.
  • Ability to recognize when a problem has occurred and communicate it to management.
  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the facility.
  • Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
  • Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 30 lbs. regularly, 40 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for the entire work day.
  • Work in outside weather conditions, including high heat, high humidity, cold temperatures, snow and rain.
  • Climbing steps regularly and climbing ladders occasionally.
  • Ability to fill mowers with gas.
  • Reading and writing work-related documents in English.
  • Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of customers and co-workers and the ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood by customers and co-workers in English.
  • Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties.
  • Must be able to operate and maintain general custodial equipment, such as lawn mower, weed whacker, leaf blower and vacuum cleaner.
  • Cleaning Supplies (including detergents, chemicals, mops, brooms, scourers, hand towels, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the cleanliness and order of the inside facility, including light dusting, vacuuming, and window washing.
  • Manage and maintain the cleanliness and order of the outside property, including mowing grass, raking leaves, minor snow shoveling, picking up trash.
  • Pull trash from trash receptacles throughout the unit.
  • Replace trash bags as needed.
  • Sort recycling for trash bins.
  • Respond to and perform basic maintenance requests, including changing light bulbs and moving furniture and boxes.
  • Order supplies as needed, keep storeroom clean and stocked.
  • Receive and put away deliveries.
  • Clean bathrooms.
  • Maintain all bathroom supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, soap dispensers, and toilet seat covers.
